The Church

Senior Infants have been learning lots about the Church over the last few weeks through the Grow in Love programme. We walked to the Church and spotted the baptisimal font, the altar, the Paschal Candle, and the Crucifix. We said a Hail Mary and admired the beautiful stained glass picture of Our Lady.

A visit from the Fire Brigade!

sized 030

On Friday May 27th, the Junior Infants had a very special visit from the Blanchardstown Fire Brigade Service. This month the children have been learning all about the Emergency services and so this visit was very exciting for them all. As part of our socio dramatic play through Aistear the children have been taking on the roles of firefighters, Gardaí, paramedics, lifeguards and coast guards. They have also been practising calling 999/112 for help using our emergency call centre. As part of this special visit the children listened to the firemen talk about their job and all the important lifesaving things they have to do. The firemen also answered questions from the children. We then got to go outside and see the fire engine. The firemen showed us all the heavy equipment they use, their oxygen tanks and most exciting they even sprayed the water hose. The children were very excited when they heard the sirens as the fire truck pulled out of the school yard. Thank you so much to all the Fireman for taking time out to visit us in Junior Infants, it’s a day we will not forget!
